JONI HUFFMAN – OWNER

My family childcare preschool home has been licensed and in good standing since 2003, by me, Joni Huffman, a parent of three wonderful adult children. I love to read, travel, take on DIY projects, and spend time with family. I decided to start a childcare business to stay home with my own children. Shortly thereafter I took formal early childhood education through the UC Davis Ext. and have countless hours of ECE continuing education hours. Through PCOE, I became certified on positive discipline techniques and have had the honor of being a Mentor Provider for Placer County Office of Education’s Early Quality Matters, and Mentoring Program for the past 13 years.

MISS RACHEL – ASSISTANT

Miss Rachel is a mother, grandmother, and loves children. Rachel is also participating in the Early Quality Matters program through PCOE.  EQM offers professional growth workshops, the CARES program, and much more. She is eager to learn new ideas and share them with our program.  In her spare time, Rachel enjoys spending time with her family.  She brings experience from the Montessori philosophy and has years of experience with children. We are very blessed to have her with us.

MISS ASHLEY â€“ ASSISTANT

Miss Ashley is an amazing mom of a 2 year old boy and has prior experience in the early childhood education field. She is kind, patient, and perfect addition to our program. In her spare time, she loves to spend time with family, party plan, and works part time at a local church ECE program. We’re very happy she has decided to join us.

Philosophy

Our program is play based and consists of an Early Childhood STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Math) style curriculum that encourages creativity through play, themes, and process art. Teacher and child directed activities are offered. Meaning, we believe in intentional teaching but also know that child lead activities are most engaging for young children. Social/Emotional skills are huge for children in this age group and is a huge part of our daily learning. Our library is full of quality, diverse books. We encourage the love of literacy through reading often, Scholastic Magazines, offering a lending library, Zoo-phonics, and Learning without Tears programs. The children are also inspired to use problem solving, decision making, and self-help while promoting interpersonal communications through play and group activities. These are key elements which contribute to the child’s development, self esteem and school readiness. Among these elements, the safety, health, and well being of the children are always a number one priority. I also strive for a stress free environment and believe that children learn best when they are in a comfortable and caring setting.

Parent/provider communication is strongly encouraged because I believe that communication between parent and provider is vital to the child’s success and happiness. The parent/provider relationship must be one of mutual trust, honesty and respect.
